People Power to Transform Europe

WeMove Europe Vision, Mission and Strategy

What does WeMove Europe do?

At the centre of what we do are two key beliefs: that people hold the power to drive change, and that the Europe we live in today needs real, ongoing change so that its politics reflect the needs of people and planet rather than corporations and profit. We are a community of people across Europe taking action on the issues that shape our daily lives. From rising costs and housing, to climate impacts, rights, and democracy.

We run campaigns that give people across Europe the chance to be part of this change by signing petitions online, contacting decision-makers, sharing campaigns, and supporting collective action.

Each action on its own can feel small. But together, they create real pressure that decision-makers cannot ignore. And that is when change begins.

What is different about WeMove Europe?

We are an independent, people-powered organisation working across Europe (not just the EU).

We are not linked to governments, corporations, or political parties.

We listen to what matters to people across our community, and we focus on the issues where collective action can actually create change. And we take sides. With people seeking justice, and with the planet. We are clear about the Europe we want, and the Europe we don’t.

We know our own limitations and we work closely with others to achieve our goals. We also know our strengths and play to them: part digital tools, part people power. We know that people power is pan-European, multilingual, and has huge potential to create change.

Our Vision for Europe

We believe in a Europe where people and the planet come first. In every law, decision and policy.

A Europe where:

  • people can afford decent housing, good healthcare, and a fair standard of living
  • corporations and the wealthiest contribute fairly, so public money supports strong healthcare, education, and care for people
  • investment moves away from fossil fuels and into clean, affordable energy
  • the food we eat, the water we drink, and the products we buy are safe and properly regulated
  • no one is left behind, and human dignity is protected for every person, no matter who they are or where they come from
  • personal data and privacy are protected from powerful tech companies, not handed over to them
  • democratic standards are upheld, and leaders are held accountable for the decisions they make
  • corporate lobbying does not dominate decision-making, and public power is open to people

This is not a distant vision. It is a question of how Europe is built and who it is built for.

And at WeMove Europe, we believe it should be built for everyday people and the planet.

How do we select our campaigns?

We start from what people across our community are experiencing in their everyday lives — what they are struggling with, talking about, and trying to change.

We look for where those experiences connect to decisions being made in Europe. And if there are none we look for where acting together can shift what happens. We don’t decide campaigns in isolation. We listen to what people respond to, what feels urgent or unfair, and where there is a real chance that collective action can make a difference.

We don’t expect change to happen on its own. We build pressure so that decision-makers have to respond.

Change happens when enough people act together, consistently over time, so that decisions can no longer be ignored.

Who is part of the WeMove Europe community?

Our community is made up of people from across Europe who want a fairer, safer future and who, despite everything, believe that it's worth fighting for.

We come from different countries, backgrounds, and walks of life — and many of us do not see ourselves as activists.

What we share is a belief that everyday people should have a say in the decisions that affect our lives.

How do you work with others?

We don’t work alone because change doesn’t happen alone.

Across Europe, we work with organisations, campaigners, researchers, journalists and local communities who are already fighting for change in their own ways. Each brings something different - deep local knowledge, lived experience, policy expertise, or the ability to organise people on the ground.

Put together, that’s where the power comes from.

By working together, we reach further, move faster, and create real pressure that makes change happen.

How are you funded?

Our financial and political independence is our guiding light. We do not allow the pursuit of financial stability to get in the way of our independence. We will not take funding from corporations, governments or state institutions, because we want to continue to direct campaigns on issues related to corporations and remain politically independent.

We work with donors who do not impose political conditions that restrict our mission or limit our independence. Our funding comes from individual members across Europe who support our work.

Our approach to Technology, AI and data

We rely on digital tools to connect people across Europe and make collective action possible at scale and speed.

We take responsibility for how we use them.

We use secure systems, protect member data, and do not share personal information with companies. You can read our GDPR policy here and our AI policy here.
