WeMove Europe is a citizens’ movement, campaigning for a better Europe; for a European Union committed to social and economic justice, environmental sustainability and citizen-led democracy. About us:
We are a recently launched, European online campaigning organisation in the spirit of the amazing work done by our friends at Campact.de in Germany and 38Degrees.org.uk in the UK.
Our idea is to respond to the crisis of European democracy with creative online campaigning. Having launched in September 2015 with great success (130 000 members so far), we are now focused on continuing our fast growth – and we are looking for an agile project manager to join our fast growing tech team.
You would be joining a team of seven dedicated activists located all over Europe e.g. France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Slovenia. You’d be closely working with our technology partner Caltha in Warsaw and our friends at Akcja Demokracja in Poland and 38Degrees.org.uk together with whom we develop much of our software.
You would be based anywhere in Europe with a slight preference for Warsaw.

Our Tech
Our technology stack is built using several software components (mostly open-source) and we are moving toward a micro-services architecture. We use the best tools for our needs to support our growth. So far, we are set up with a custom ruby software (padrino) and civicrm (php) with a healthy amount of client side (js, mostly angular) and are going to add a python component early next year.
We are a truly pan-European distributed team trying to make a more inclusive and democratic Europe. We are spread over seven countries with more to come and are looking for you to help us improve and manage the IT delivery process.
Your main role will be to coordinate the conflicting priorities of the important and the urgent and to ensure that no tasks are stalled. You will work closely with the head of tech, the director, our IT team (currently four part-time people), and the campaigners as a core element of our team.
The job:
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with our team, provide advice and help improve the process, but also check the progress and make sure your colleagues deliver results on time.
- Decide when to change priorities (we have big campaigns that can be decided on and launched in a few hours, the IT infrastructure needs to support that pace).
- Get the input needed for our tech projects in a friendly but firm way, no matter how busy the person is or which rank they have in the organisation.
- Run the daily scrum of a virtual team.
- Monitor progress and deliverables.
- Report on progress to the whole team.
- Get your hands dirty and code some of the tasks yourself
- Based within Europe, with some preference for Warsaw.
Candidate Requirements
- Experienced leader with demonstrable track record of coordinating virtual teams.
- Demonstrable track record in professional project management.
- Ability to write and review code, preferably in ruby, but if you know how to code and have the desire and willingness to learn, we will help you learn what you don't know yet.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (Polish an asset) and the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and cultures.
- Commitment to being accountable for results with a strong focus on getting stuff done.
- Ability to think independently and make decisions.
- Collaborative approach to work.
What we offer
- The chance to be part of an amazing team that moves fast and aims high. In less than 4 months, we had campaigns with 150k signatures collected in a few days, a full page ad printed in the biggest French newspaper and apples delivered at the European Commission. Next year we will have more than a million members, we will launch new campaigns and invent new ways to mobilise and get what we want.
We know basically every job ad is about being part of an awesome team and big growth, but we mean it and have the means for it.

- A budget to learn and share. We like open source, we read books, we organise or participate in events and see it as part of the job.
- We believe in fairness and we have a transparent and clear salary structure. Your salary will depend on experience and will be adjusted to living costs of the country you live and work in. You will not be able to buy a private jet and you can probably find a better paying job in corporate, but it will be competitive with what you would get working for a local NGO.
